Trump’s Chronic Condition Confirmed By White House
The White House confirmed Thursday that President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. It’s a condition that causes swelling in the ankles and may explain the bruising people have noticed on his hands.
At a press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters the president had been examined after some swelling was observed. She said: “He had just been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.”
Earlier this week, Trump showed up at a press gaggle and people noticed makeup covering a strange patch on his hand. It looked like it was hiding something raised, and the same spot was seen a few other times this week too.
That’s what started the questions. The hand looked off, and the makeup made it stand out more, not less.
Leavitt said the president had mild swelling in his lower legs and, just to be careful, was checked by the White House medical team. She said he is still keeping up with his normal medical care.
Doctors ordered vascular tests and gave him a full workup. They did bilateral lower extremity ultrasounds, and that’s how they diagnosed the condition.
