Rapper Faces Major Health Risks After Surgically Implanting Gold Chains Into His Head To Mimic Hair

A rapper surprised the world when he had metal chains implanted into his head, and experts have since stepped in to warn people against trying to copy his bold move.

Dan Sur, a Spanish rapper, made headlines in 2021 when he revealed to his millions of TikTok followers that he had replaced his regular hair with chains instead.

In a video, he explained the wild procedure that led to this transformation, and honestly, it’s hard to believe.

He said: “I have it as a hook that is implanted in my head and that hook has hooks and they are all hooked in my skull, under my skin.

“This is my hair. Golden hair. The first rapper to have gold hair implanted in human history.”

To quiet down those who doubted him and claimed his chains were fake, he demonstrated how his chains stayed submerged in a glass of water, proving they weren’t floating.

Even though Dan seems quite happy with his metal locks, experts were quick to warn others about the serious risks involved in following his lead.

Sure, having chains for hair might look cool and unique, but going through with this kind of procedure could have dangerous health consequences if you decide to try it.

Dr. Frank Agullo, a plastic surgeon, spoke out in 2021 after news of the rapper’s unusual hairstyle, advising people not to implant anything into their scalp.

There are a lot of reasons why this kind of implant can be risky.

Dr. Agullo told Yahoo! News: “Implants like this are not safe. They introduce an easy path for bacteria between the outside world and the internal body. In this case, the bone covering the brain.

“In addition, I am concerned about the amount of weight these hooks are supporting. The weight or any accidental tug on a band of gold could cause the implant to dislodge and even fracture the skull.”

Reports have mentioned that even when Dan Sur removes the chains, the hooks themselves are still permanently attached to his head.

Because of this, dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara warned that the rapper might experience ‘permanent hair loss from damage to the follicle’ due to inflammation and scarring of the scalp.

Despite these concerns, the rapper seems to be doing just fine with his decision. He has had the chains for three years now and has not mentioned any serious health problems during that time.

Still, Dr. Agullo said: “I would strongly discourage anyone [from undergoing this procedure], for all the risks and complications involved.

“Especially at a young age, long-term consequences need to be considered. I think there are other, more sensible, and easily reversible alternatives like wearing a wig with gold chains. I don’t believe that it needs to be anchored to your skull.”

Dr. Gohara also added her advice: “Be cautious! Weave in some gold strands onto your hair. You are much better off doing that.”

Since the transplant, Dan Sur has been seen flaunting different styles, wearing chains in various colors including gold, silver, and even multi-colored chains to match his outfits.

Despite being warned by several experts about the dangers involved, it doesn’t seem like he plans on giving up his signature look anytime soon.
