Is it just me, or is food becoming more expensive these days? Takeout options that used to be affordable are now unfortunately quite costly.
Over the past year, the cost of living in the United States has surged significantly due to the sharp increase in inflation, leading to soaring prices for both energy and food.
Surprisingly, that might not be the case, as suggested by TikToker Christopher Olive.
In a video posted last year, the aspiring strongman showcased his recent purchase from McDonald’s, which included a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, a large order of fries, and a Sprite.
However, just a couple of years ago, you would typically anticipate that a single meal like this wouldn’t cost more than $10, if not even less.

For this reason, Christopher was taken aback as he glanced at his receipt, only to discover that he had been billed a hefty $16.10 for his meal.
In the clip, he says: “So I get there’s a labour shortage, I get there’s wage increases and a number of other things but… sixteen dollars?
With nearly 180,000 views as of the current time, the video has garnered thousands of comments from the online community, and it seems that people have varying opinions.
However, on the flip side, it’s important to consider that every stage of the supply chain has been affected by soaring costs, contributing to these high prices.
Another said: “It’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore, might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat.”
But not everyone agrees, with some suggesting he opted for the most expensive item on the menu.
A second chimed in: “Use the McDonald’s app, sometimes they have a 50% off and other offers.”
