Woman Adamant Her Dog Was Vegetarian Gets Proven Wrong In Seconds On Live TV

It’s well-known that dogs aren’t too picky about their food.

That’s why it’s really important to keep an eye on what they’re munching on.

Lucy Carrington took this to heart and decided to switch her Husky, Storm, to a vegetarian diet by serving her veggies and meat-free dog food starting in 2018.

This change came about because Storm seemed uninterested in her usual diet during a particularly warm summer in the UK.

Lucy even decided to test Storm’s commitment to this new diet on national television.

She appeared on ITV’s “This Morning” in August of that year to put Storm’s new eating habits to the test.

During the show, which is hosted by Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, two bowls of food were presented to Storm.

One bowl was filled with meat and the other with vegetables. It seemed like a hard choice for Storm.

But, perhaps not too shockingly, Storm headed straight for the meat, devouring it eagerly without a moment’s hesitation.

The veggies barely got a sniff before she decided to gobble down the meat.

Lucy, watching this, humorously commented: “Oh you little…I didn’t swear.

“In fairness the weather has cooled down quite dramatically.”

Holmes, one of the hosts, chimed in with a pointed remark: “You say dogs can’t make the choice, but on this programme they can make the choice.”

This incident sparked a broader discussion on the show about whether dogs can really thrive on a vegetarian diet.

Vet Scott Miller, still a regular on “This Morning,” pointed out that dogs are omnivores.

This means they naturally eat both meat and plants.

He noted that changing a dog’s diet to vegetarian could actually deprive them of making their own dietary choices.

While Lucy maintained that it was theoretically possible for dogs to be vegetarians, the British Veterinary Association advises against a vegetarian or vegan diet for dogs.

They argue that it’s too easy to mess up the balance of essential nutrients they need.

Social media reactions to the segment were quite amused.

One viewer wrote on X: “I am roaring at Storm the ‘vegetarian’ dog eating all the meat.”

After the episode, Lucy conceded that she would go back to feeding Storm meat, stating:

“If this is what she wants then obviously I’m going to adapt accordingly.”

Her experience on the show seemed to have reshaped her perspective on her dog’s diet preferences.
