Goes So Far As To Insult Them
From a former Redditor
I use a cane to get around and I attend a rather competitive program. But, I’m also poor…I wear the same things I have worn since high school. While things will be looking up soon, I have to finish to get free of poverty.
I’m sitting in an area of campus with a coffee shop and seating. I usually study here. The coffee shop employees know me well since I always sit there to study and chat and get caffeine.
On this day the janitor is doing a once through of the place and we were chatting. He gets a call from his boss and he leaves his stuff on my table with permission. I’m drinking coffee reading.
Some freshmen comes in…despite the actual wet floor sign being there she ignores it, almost slips, and drops her iPhone.
She immediately is furious. Looks right at me. “Maybe you should finish before you take a break and dry the floor.” And just walks [past] me in a huff.
“I’m all for hiring special needs people but holy sh*t at least make sure they do the job and are not taking advantage of the generosity”. She says it loud enough that all the employees hear it.
When she gets up to the counter she says “Can you believe that?! Is he new?!”
Employee: That’s not our employee. That’s a student. Leave, you are not getting coffee.
Her: Oh come on I can’t deal with this today just give me “coffee with express”.
Employee: Apologize to them right now.
Her: Excuse me?! Who do you think you are!? Give me my d*mn coffee.
Employee: No, you are banned. Get out.if you don’t I’ll call the campus police
Her: This is just a big misunderstanding, let me talk to the owner or the manager.
Employee: No. Apologize or leave. Last chance.
Her: How was I supposed to know any of this I’m new ?! I just started, can you please give me my coffee.
She was banned for the next 4 years she was at the school. The BOSS that she was talking to gave me a free coffee.
Responded In The Most Wholesome Way Possible

Not mine but my grandmother’s. From the time I was in first grade until my freshman year of high school, my grandmother’s phone number and the local high school in our small town had a phone number that was exactly the same except, the last two digits were reversed. Every morning Monday through Friday between 6:45 and 7:45 a.m. my grandmother’s phone would ring off the hook. My grandmother being the sweet wonderful woman that she was, would answer the phone. Now you need to remember this in the late 80s and things were a lot different then. Every morning during the school year, between set times someone was calling to say their student wouldn’t be at school. When it first started happening my grandmother would kindly say I’m sorry you have the wrong number. After a while she got to the point where she would sit down at her kitchen table get a cup of coffee a notebook and set the phone on the table. Every morning when these calls started coming in my grandmother would kindly ask what’s your name, what’s your student’s name, and why aren’t they coming in? Then every morning at 8:10 she would call the high school, and give them her list. What a wonderful woman.
Not Your Food Deliverer
From Redditor u/omartoor
I’m brown and I’m an IT executive.
I ordered take out from a local BBQ place and was going back to my hotel with my food in a large paper bag with the name of the restaurant written in large letters on the side.
There was a group of people outside the hotel and as I approached the hotel entrance, this women rushes over and grabs my bag of food. I yank it back.
She goes “I’ve been waiting for this!”. It just hits me that she thinks I’m her food delivery driver here with her food. I politely tell her I’m not her delivery driver. With a confused look on her face, she goes “Are sure? You LOOK like one”.
At this point I just want her to let go of my bag and a few of her guy friends come over and tell me to stop giving her a hard time and to hand over her food.
So I spell it out for them. I am NOT your food delivery driver. This is MY food. I’m a guest at this hotel.” I yank the bag away from her and as I enter the hotel, I see her pulling out her phone and saying “I’m calling (delivery service) and telling them what an a$$hole you are … and I want my money BACK!”
Go right ahead lady. Go right ahead …
Kept Calling Them To Work
From Redditor u/Thischick1
I worked as a hostess during college at a big chain restaurant that had a huge staff. My location was the management training location for our region so we had a lot of new managers cycling in and out, most of them were promoted servers or bartenders from different locations and had no management experience prior to this. I never loved working at this location as lot of the new managers were on a little bit of a power trip (kind of comes with the territory as new managers) so after a year of being berated for issues that were completely out of my control I finally got a new job and put in my two weeks. I handed it directly to our gm, thanked her for everything and was set to leave on good terms with the company.
Fast forward two weeks and I received a notification that my schedule was set for the following week. I called the restaurant and reminded the on duty manager that I was no longer an employee and they would need to put someone else on to fill my spot, they apologized and moved on. Another 2 weeks pass and I get the same notification, I once again call the restaurant to remind them, they again apologize. Before I hang up I say something along the lines of ” hey, make sure you make a note of this because I’m going out of country next week and I won’t be able to call if this happens again” they agree and we end it there.
So this is where it gets dramatic. I’m on vacation in Spain and I get a string of angry texts from a new manager at the restaurant reminding me that I’m 5 minutes late and If I don’t arrive in the next 5 minutes I’ll be written up. I text back saying “sorry, I know you’re new but I put in my two weeks over a month ago, I don’t know why I’m still on the schedule.” New manager replies saying that although that may be the case, it is absolutely unacceptable that I am missing a shift I am scheduled for and if I don’t come in I will be written up and in bad standing with the company. I respond explaining that I am out of country and although I am sorry for their situation I am no longer an employee and there is nothing I can do to help. I then receive a string of at least 15 messages back to back. And let me tell you they were the most unhinged messages I’ve ever read. They went from calling me unprofessional to an arrogant brat- mind you, I never worked with this women, she started after I left. She accuses me of lying and being lazy, saying that if you quit a job you need to give notice and I should be ashamed of what I have done to the restaurant. Of course I took screenshots of the conversation and sent them to one of the other managers. Last I heard she was suspended and then demoted back to her original position at a different location. Definitely for the best.
An Awesome And Hilarious Wife
From Redditor u/MrTooOldToCare
My wife and I are “senior citizens”… in other words, we are OLD. My dear wife (DF) is a strong, independent, take no sh*t from anyone, type of woman. I adore her for it! She keeps me in line pushes me to be a better man, and is the reason behind my (modest) success in life. She is sarcastic, is wicked smart, can cuss like a sailor, and as she gets older, her filter is practically non-existent!
A few months ago, we decided to treat ourselves, we made reservations and went to a rather high end restaurant. They had a maître de, sommeliers, highly trained wait staff, etc. My wife, even though she is in her 70’s, has very little grey hair and can pass for 55. She was wearing a very pretty white, lacy blouse, very flattering black pants, and black flats (she looked GOOD!).
When we arrived, there was no line (surprisingly) and the maître de had apparently stepped away from the podium where he stands. We were waiting there and my wife was right next to the podium and I had sat down at one of the benches provided by the entrance, when another couple came in. Without missing a beat, the man walked up to the podium and told my wife, “Rockafeller (not the name he used), we have reservations for two”. My wife said that she was sure someone would be with them shortly. The woman huffed a little and the man said, “Please seat us NOW!” My wife told them that she is waiting to be seated but the man said again, “Seat us NOW!” So my wife said, “Right away, walk this way, she walked away with them behind her as she walked around the partition separating the entrance to the dining area, circled around to the other end and led them back to the entrance and, pointing to the bench, said, “SIT DOWN!” The man looked like he was going to blow a gasket, and my wife repeated, “I don’t work here you moron, you wanted me to seat you, so sit the “f” down!” As the couple [was] sputtering, and before it could escalate future , the maître de arrived, we gave our name and he lead us away.
There was no yelling and no threats of police. We had a wonderful meal (over priced but, oh well) and the other couple was several tables away from us. We didn’t interact again with them, but they did shoot us dirty looks now and then.
Now, before you say my wife overreacted and could have explained that she didn’t work there in a better way, she has a wicked sense of humor and hates idiots. She LOVES being a smartass and is so good at it! One of the reason that I, after being with her all these years, still love being “put in my place” by her when I start getting a little too misogynistic.
I wanted to post this again because since the original posting, I have lost the love of my life to “the current global health crisis”. Maybe, someday, I’ll be able to post new content about the wonderful woman I was honored to call my wife… I’m just not in the head space to do so now.
A Rude Returning Customer

Jerk (J)
Former Boss (B)
Me (M)
Backstory: When I was younger I had a job at a small market in our city’s central, usually you can work from age 15-17, but as soon as you turn 18, you will most likely get fired. Once you turn 18 your salary increases a LOT. This is important for later
For the past 2 years I worked at the same shop sitting in the desk, but since I was nearing age 18, I knew I couldn’t stay. This meant I knew I was about to get fired, and sure enough, a week before I turned 18 I was told I was fired. I told B I knew why, and it was understandable, since the small shop needed to save as much money as possible since the income and profit [were] already low, for being a local city market, and not some big shopping centre.
I got a bonus for being fired and decided to keep this bonus to use on something special. One day weeks later I see that the same shop just got home some extremely expensive and unique food products, imported from around the world, and out of pure curiosity I went there to buy some myself. I arrived to a really busy shop having many customers wanting to buy all these special beers, sausages and so on, but I had set my eyes on this one thing. American candy. I live in the EU and American candy isn’t really being sold so much in my country, so I was drooling from the thought of getting to try some of these big products I hear about on the internet. I went to take some of the candy and put it in my basket, and here steps in J (Jerk). J was one of the greedy customers we had. When I still worked there, whenever there was a discount or something special, he just took as much as he could, not letting other customers buy some. It got so bad that we needed to put an “each customer may only purchase x-amount of this product” signs on some of our specialty products.
J Then goes up to me and says:
(J) “Are you packing these away already?”
(M) “Haha, no, I was picking these for myself”
(J) “But you are still working, you can purchase some when you’re free from work”
(M) “Sorry, but i don’t work here anymore J”
(J) “Yes you do, i saw you some weeks ago in the counter”
(M) “I recently got fired since i turned 18”
(J) “Yeah that’s good with you, don’t lie or I will call your boss and get you in serious trouble for steal ing the products that are meant for the customers.”
(M) “You can call him, it’s not a joke, i really got fired since im turning 18”
J Then began screaming about how I was being disrespectfull, and how I shouldn’t be working in the store anymore, how I was [taking] and packing away special products from the customers so they couldn’t buy any. I was getting pretty pissed at J since Me and B already knew that he was a sour bitter old man, but he always kept telling me, he was a good loyal paying customer. I always wanted to say “screw it” and say something whenever he went hoarder mode and bought all the specialty products.
I told J to call my former boss (B) and ask him if I still worked here. Out of nowhere greedy J starts to take things out of my basket where I had my products, saying “These don’t belong to you” where I then screamed at him for being so entitled and disrespectful, saying that he was the whole issue, since i already admitted that i didn’t work there.
I then stopped screaming in the old man’s face, to where I then saw two police officers walk down the hall towards me and J. I got so pale because it looked really bad, since I was just done screaming my face off at J’s face. The Police officer then holds up his one hand to grab my attention, where I just stare him directly into the eyes, to where J then decides to slap me in the face, and punch me in the stomach, making me drop the basket I was holding in my hands. It didn’t really hurt, it just took me by surprise. The two police officers then went from walking and holding eye contact with me, to running at us looking at J. They handcuffed J and called B, confirming with the camera (Which has sound) that J was being a douche, and that I told J that I didn’t work at the store anymore.
The officers told me they had a call from one of the bypassing customers, which got worried because they heard “stealing” being yelled in the store, and J causing a tantrum. I left with my American candy that day, and an apology from B, saying they should have done something about him before this happened. Apparently this wasn’t the first time J left the store in cuffs.
Snatched Her Bread
From Redditor u/Bangbangsmashsmash
I wear bright blue scrubs for my job. I had a doctors appointment, so I’m taking a later lunch, and decided to get curbside pick up. Unfortunately, the poor store is visibly swamped. After waiting about 15+ minutes, I decided to walk in to pick up my order (no biggie, I have eyes, I see what’s going on). After I collected my meal and walked out, a lady rolls down her window and starts waving and yelling her last name (I assume) over and over. I ignore her and get in my car with my bag, take out my delicious baguette, buckle my seatbelt, etc. when suddenly, SHE OPENED MY CAR DOOR!!!!!
She started screaming about me taking her food or not delivering to her or something… I was in shock and fear. She grabbed my bread!! I was so scared I started yelling for help. Thankfully some people on the patio, and the girl why was actually delivering food heard me screaming, and came. (Side note delivery girl dropped this woman’s bag of food to run and intervene) The police were called and while they were on their way, I finally understood what was going on. “Look at me! I am in scrubs! I work at a hospital, not [this bakery] you idiot!” The manager of the [bakery] gave me some gift cards and more bread, and wild lady was [taken into custody]. BONUS: she parked in a handicapped spot, and I think her car will be towed.
Fired Two Times
From Redditor u/MeesterPepper
Long story short, in 2014 I was working at a pizza chain…At the beginning of July, I gave a two week notice to my manager that I’d be leaving to move out-of-state to be closer to family (and a better job market). I finished out my time as promised, moved, found a new, better gig, and that was that…
In summer of 2015, I received a call from a new store manager. He informed me that he’s been putting me on schedule and it was unacceptable that I wasn’t even coming in to look. If I didn’t show up today, he would have no choice but to fire me.
I asked, “did the old manager not take me out of the system after I quit last year?” He grumbled and made some snarky complaint that if I had quit a year ago, I wouldn’t be in his scheduling program. I let him know I live in a completely different state, am working a completely different job, and would not be showing up for any shifts he scheduled me for. He threatened to fire me again, and I reiterated “hey, I don’t actually work for you, so do what you gotta.” He hung up and that was the last I heard of it…
Until we fast forward to yesterday. I received a letter from the corporate office informing me that, per their records, I haven’t shown up to work since July 2014, and, unfortunately, they were going to have to terminate me. I still almost can’t stop laughing – especially since, you know, they sent the letter to the address I gave them when I quit.
Didn’t Even Apologize
From Redditor u/SignKitchen
My wife is deaf, I’m hearing. We communicate primarily in sign language, especially when we’re out of the house since masks make any lipreading impossible.
Last night we go to our local liquor store to pick up a fancy bottle of scotch to celebrate some good fortune in our lives. While the (actual!) manager is grabbing the bottle from above the fancy scotch case, we’re standing off to the side and having a little signed conversation.
A group of 6 people, 3 couples, walks up. Probably all in their early/mid 60’s. Their Ring Leader walks up to me and parks his cart in front of me.
RL – “Chilled whites.”
Me – Stopping my signed conversation and turning around – “huh?”
RL – “Where are the chilled whites.”
Me – Still trying to get my bearings at what the hell he was talking about “I…?”
RL – “DO. YOU. GUYS. HAVE. CHILLED. WHITE. WINE?”
Me – “I have no idea dude. Do you think I work here?”
RL – “…..Oh. I just saw you gesturing….like you worked here.”
Me – “I’m using sign language. With my deaf wife.”
RingLeader didn’t even apologize. He just stood there stunned for a few seconds then slunk off with four out of six of them trailing.
The last couple stopped and the lady turns to us in PERFECT FLUENT SIGN LANGUAGE and says “I’m really sorry about that.” Turns out she was a deaf educator for a while. We had a pleasant little chat where I explained that it was fine, I’m used to being mistaken as a manager, just not when I’m with my wife since most people are terrified to approach a signing couple.
Not Even In Uniform
From Redditor u/QueenEros
Okay for context; yes, I do work there. But I was off that day and went to my job to grab a couple things (I work in a grocery store) I was stopped while I was picking out eggs by a woman who said “can you check in the back for more water?” I froze and said “uhm… I don’t work here, lady. Sorry.” And turned back to picking my eggs. To which she says, “You do work here. I’ve seen you here before.”
Let me tell you the absolute.. frustration in my voice when I said this, “Lady. Ask someone who’s not in a f*cking dress and heels and looks like they’re working.” All i remember was hearing her say she wanted to speak to a manager (she even name dropped one of them) but.. yeesh. I don’t want to go in the back of a dusty store when I’m off, i barely want to go in when i have to go in….If I went in the back to look for and grab a case of water, I would be fired. Immediately. My whole outfit plus heels was an extreme safety hazard.
