New York University Student Steps Down As President After Controversial Comment About Barron Trump

A student leader at a university has been removed from her role as president of a campus organization after making remarks about Donald Trump’s son that sparked controversy.

Kaya Walker, who until recently served as the president of New York University’s College Republicans chapter, faced significant backlash and was ultimately pressured to resign after her comments about Barron Trump surfaced.

Walker found herself at the center of heated criticism from fellow Republicans after speaking with Vanity Fair about the 18-year-old son of former President Donald Trump.

In the interview, she remarked that Barron was “sort of like an oddity on campus,” further adding: “He goes to class, he goes home.”

The College Republicans of America (CRA) was among several organizations that strongly criticized her remarks on social media. While they acknowledged that her words had been “unfairly framed,” they still deemed her statements “inappropriate” and inconsistent with the organization’s “values and principles.”

As a way to ease tensions and move forward, CRA President Will Donahue extended a public invitation for Barron to join the CRA.

In a statement shared on Twitter, he said: “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join the College Republicans of America.”

Donahue further emphasized his stance by adding: “Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility – qualifies that Barron has already demonstrated.”

“We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party.”

This unusual invitation is particularly noteworthy, as the CRA recently broke a century-long tradition by endorsing Donald Trump for president. The organization also actively secured more than a million voter commitments across elections and mobilized students to support the Trump campaign wherever needed.

The CRA statement reinforced its position, stating: “Our support for President Trump is, and has been, a pillar of our organization,”

Meanwhile, Barron Trump has been making waves at NYU’s Washington Square Park campus ever since he started classes at the Stern School of Business in the fall.

His mother, Melania Trump, has described him as “very vocal” and a key player in Donald Trump’s campaign, even serving as his father’s “podcast adviser.” However, according to PEOPLE, his classmates see him in a different light, describing him as quite the “ladies’ man” on campus.

One anonymous student commented: “He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.”

Despite his presence on campus, Barron reportedly doesn’t spend much time engaging in school activities or socializing with other students.

He commutes from Trump Tower in a convoy of vehicles, navigating NYU’s open campus in Lower Manhattan while being closely guarded by Secret Service agents for security reasons.

Although he maintains a low profile, a student told Vanity Fair that they once invited him to play basketball. While Barron seemed interested, the student got the impression that “he wasn’t really allowed to do stuff.”

Walker also expressed to Vanity Fair that she found the buzz surrounding Barron on campus a bit excessive.

She believed that he should be able to experience college life in a more typical and unremarkable way.
