One particularly chilling method was supposedly invented by the ancient Greeks.
In this form of torture, a person was forced to climb into a hollow brass bull.
Just thinking about that is enough to make your skin crawl.
Another terrible execution happened hundreds of years ago to a Hungarian man named György Dózsa.
What makes it worse than just being naked in front of a crowd? The throne and crown were heated up. Let that sink in for a moment.
According to the YouTube page Dark History, Dózsa “had to then hold a glowing scepter to ridicule his ambition to become king.”
Can you imagine the agony?
A video simulation that went viral online explains how it worked, and it’s not for the faint-hearted.
In this method, the victim was restrained, and their feet were dipped in salt water.

Sounds manageable, right?
But then, a goat was brought in to lick the victim’s feet.
Over time, the person’s feet would become so exposed that infections would set in, dragging out their misery.
One user commented, “Humans are endlessly inventive when it comes to hurting and killing one another.”
Another added, “At first I thought, ‘Oh, the goat will tickle the feet, yeah that’s torturous but also kinda funny and harmless.’ Oh how naive I was.”
I think we can all agree—if given the choice, we’d rather die laughing than from unimaginable pain.
